William is an accomplished public speaker and is often invited to speak around the world to medical and lay audiences alike about liver disease and about his work as a prominent physician scientist in the field.
He is availble for lecturing and consultancy in liver medicine, immunology and medical communications.
William leads a thriving research group that studies inflammation in patients with liver disease. He is part of an international consortium that is harmonising patient records to learn more about NAFLD in primary care, building on his earlier work studying 700,000 adults in London. He runs a NAFLD research clinic that brings together experts in different specialties to study various aspects of the disease - including patients' quality of life, the immune response, and the bugs that live inside us. He has recently won funding from the UK Medical Research Council to conduct laboratory studies at the Blizard Institute into the molecules associated with major liver diseases.
